Item Best Practices with NAAC in College Libraries of Nalbari District, Assam(INFLIBNET Centre, 2012-03-03) Ahmed, Merina; Pal, BirenderThe twenty first century creates a new environment for education in general and higher education in particular. The progress of any country is strongly linked with the quality of education. However, with mushrooming of educational institutions in all parts of the country and several types of economic activities dominating the landscape, the issue of quality has now assumed a critical dimension. College libraries play an indispensable role in the dissemination of information of knowledge,they should be in a position to provide effective teaching learning information support to its user’s communities. Libraries are one of the important components of the assessment through which an impact on the accreditation of the institute is related. To meet the end user’s demands effectively, they need to identify and adopt good practices. NAAC has decided to identify the set of best practices in Library and Information Services, with the help of a few case presentations from few selected libraries of the accredited Universities and Colleges. This paper shows a clear picture about the developments of college libraries of Nalbari district(Assam) after NAAC’s evaluation. It gives the status of best practices followed by the surveyed libraries.Item Changing Dimension of KKHL With INFLIBNET in the Participatory ERA(INFLIBNET Centre, 2012-03-03) Pal, Birender; Singh, S K; Ahmed, MerinaLibraries and Knowledge are the two faces of a same coin. The University libraries act as an important medium of generating knowledge between the academic communities. The traditional process of organizing, retrieving and dissemination of information is out of fashion and time consuming. INFLIBNET through the application of IT is making great efforts to build up their information infrastructure in order to provide a fast and efficient information highway to help their users in sharing and utilizing the information all over the world. This paper deals about the different developments activities of Krishna Kanta Handiqui library of Gauhati University under INFLIBNET which includes digital collection development, HRD development, status of different databases created by KKHL. The article also discuss about the records contributed by KKHL in the Union Catalogue of Indian Universities and digitization aspects of Thesis and Dissertation collections.Item Measuring the Publication Productivity of N.E-Indian Universities Using Scopus: A Bibliometric Analysis(INFLIBNET Centre, 2014-09-25) Pal, Birender; Ahmed, MerinaUniversities of N.E- India are having a great importance in higher education sector for the region. Scholars from these universities published a numbers of intellectual works in different publication sources. SCOPUS is an indexing and abstracting database which facilitates for accessing the high quality published materials. The database is having a unique method of searching known as “affiliation search” strategy and the data for the institution publications are collected from it . The paper aims at investigating the different types of published materials by the Universities of N.E- India like articles, conference papers, review, erratum etc. The paper also identifies the peak period in which the growth of publication is maximum. Lastly, an attempt has been made to calculate the Annual Growth rate(AGR) and Average Annual Growth rate(AAGR) of the published documents during the last 20 years.
