    Opening The Gateways Of Knowledge Through E-Information Literacy : A New Vision

    The paper defines the term Information Literacy, its need and importance, and takes a stock of some notable efforts being made to initiate Information Literacy activities in different parts of the world. It stresses on the importance of Information and communication Technologies for Teachers vis-à-vis students, its pedagogy, and the role of Information providers. It puts forth certain models of Information Literacy, and more particularly e-Information Literacy experiments in India. It highlights the e-information literacy programmes of the Institutions at local level, and spells out the urgent need to reamline these at other levels too.
