Item Citation Analysis of Journal of Oilseed Research(INFLIBNET Centre, 2011-03-02) Kumar, Surendra; Kumar, SThe paper analyses 8093 citations given in the Journal of Oilseed Research (JOR) published during 1993 to 2004 (V.10-21). Out of 8093 citations 5642 are given in main articles and 2551 in short communications of the JOR. It also analyses types of documents cited and identifies core journals. The paper also covers the analyses of authorship patterns of citations along with calculation of collaboration coefficient. Geographical distribution of cited references has also been analyzed. The paper concludes that only 20 core periodicals can cover more than 50% references and also indicates that collaborativeItem Digital Preservation of Art, Architectural and Sculptural Heritage of Malwa (Madhya Pradesh)(INFLIBNET Centre, 2005-02-02) Kumar, S; Shah, Mukesh Kumar; Shah, LeenaDigitization is also an outcome of development of technologies. The distinct form of art and culture requires preservation for the study of mankind and its progress. Paper stresses need to capture them in digitized form for future interest of the researchers. It will also give an account of art and architecture and sculpture of Malwa region of Madhya Pradesh (India). It had one of the ancient civilizations in India and World. History of Malwa region of Madhya Pradesh (India) dates to prehistoric period. The archeological excavation and heritage structures of Malwa are of no less importance than any other part of India. Much is being done on digitization of manuscripts but very little is thought of these valuable heritage structures lying unprotected and open. Digitization of cultural heritage will be best preservation for future generations’ .The paper suggest for 3 dimensional picturization of these heritages and preserve in digital form. It also suggests for hardware, software and human ware requirements for such work and gives a plan and provides few beautiful slides. A practical LCD projection of digitized heritage site is also prepared.Item Digital Preservation of Manuscripts : A Case Study(INFLIBNET Center, 2004-11) Kumar, S; Shah, LeenaThis paper discusses the present situation of manuscripts and preservation steps, which has to be taken; to save the heritage the paper proposes a plan for digitization of these cultural heritages of India. The paper also discusses the history and technique of manuscript in India particularly SORI. Various institutions involved in archiving and preserving manuscript are also highlighted with historical backgrounds. Various efforts taken in preserving manuscript in digital format in India and abroad are also discussed. Maintains SORI as one of the front runner in the preservation process. Details on how manuscripts are digitized are also discussed and concludes with suggestions on various issues of manuscript digitization.Item From Cabling to Decabling the Libraries in Emerging WLAN Standards(INFLIBNET Centre, Ahmedabad, 2004-02) Choudhury, Subhajit; Kumar, Divik; Kumar, SIntroduces need for WLAN due to cabling faults and costly management of cables. WLAN use Infrared and Radio Frequency technologies. Gives benefits of WLAN. Gives an account of Data Transmission in WLAN and use of 2.4 GHz for WLAN allotted for International Radio Frequency Allocation. Gives brief account of two RF technologies-Spread Spectrum and low power Narrow Band used in various RF technologies. Gives in brief an account of IrDA, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, UWB, HomeRF, SWAP and Zigbee technologies presently in use for WLAN. Study kept an eye for various IR/RF based notebooks and computer peripherals available in India and US market provides salient features and price of these. Concludes with benefits of WLAN and library applications by undoing of what has been done in last few decades-laying cables in LAN. Provides eight references and 05 websites for further study.Item Indian Contributions to World Soybean Research: Measurement of Research Productivity of Soybean Scientists(INFLIBNET Centre, 2011-03-02) Jain, Keerti Bala; Kumar, SThe paper studies the measurement of research productivity of Indian scientists contributing to world soybean research for the period 1989-2008 based on the data available in the International Crop CD database. The paper measured the publication share of India in the world publication on soybean, its activity index, growth rate and doubling time, analysed the authorship pattern, various statistical distributions of authorship like mean, variance, binomial distributions, negative binomial distributions, geometric distributions; collaboration coefficient and collaboration index, prolific authors and their dominance factor, applicability of Lotka’s law, etc. The paper reveals that India has 2nd rank in research publication with 13.64% share in the world. The activity index of India decreases gradually. The growth rate has also decrease gradually and correspondingly doubling time has increased. The paper reveals high degree of collaboration with 93.10% contributions of joint authorship. The average collaboration coefficient is 0.931 and average collaboration index value is 3.115. Lotka’s Law is still found applicable in the study. The paper than calculate dominance factor (DF) of some prolific authors having 25 or more contributions and found most of the authors with low DF value.Item Plagiarism: A Plague(INFLIBNET Center, 2009-02-25) Tripathi, Richa; Kumar, SThis paper defines the term ‘ plagiarism’, and discusses about the tools, types, studies on plagiarism and the methods to control plagiarism.
