Item ETDs and Its Uses: A Case Study of Gauhati University(INFLIBNET Centre, Gandhinagar, 2016-11) Malakar, Konika; Pathak, Nitya NandaThis paper explores the use of ETDs among research scholars of various departments of Gauhati University, from Arts, Science, Commerce, Engineering, Medicine and Law. For data collection, questionnaire method and random sample survey have been used. Further, for clear reflection the collected data have been analyzed by simple tabulations and figures with percentage method. This paper points out the significance of ETDs for research purpose, where it has been found that about 87% of research scholars were satisfied by using the ETDS and they admitted the fact that Shodhganga which plays a vital role for research and development in India is also playing an important role in Gauhati University. Finally at the end of the paper some suggestions have been highlighted which we have gathered at the time of the collection of data as well as interview with the research scholars and faculty members of Gauhati University.Item Functioning of ‘Research’ Tools in the Enrichment of Research in K. K. Handiqui Library, Gauhati University. The kind of tools such as Endnote, Zotero, Mendelay, Bibexcel and Urkund etc. which are generally referred to as citation analysis, reference management, content management and anti-plagiarism software tools etc., has been referred in this paper as ‘research’ tools believing in their potentiality to enhance the quality of research in present times. Hence, it is quite justified to refer them as ‘research’ tools. The paper investigates the potentiality of digital scholarship with the help of Internet and website. In this sense the study is an attempt to analyze the significant role of ‘Research’ Tools like anti plagiarism software etc. in detecting plagiarism , content management practices and policies as adopted by Gauhati University. It highlights how the ETDs in the University Libraries of Assam are yet to develop in the truest sense of them.The paper alsoexamines in this regards the issues and challenges regarding the setting up of ETD Repositories. Finally some suggestions are highlighted for overcoming such challenges.Item Use of Anti Plagiarism Software for Detection of Plagiarism in Research Work in the North East Region with Special Reference to Gauhati University(INFLIBNET Centre, Gandhinagar, 2016-11) Pathak, Nitya Nanda; Malakar, KonikaThis paper discusses the uses of the anti plagiarism software and its impact on research work. This paper attempts to make an extensive study of its use in the NE region with special focus on Gauhati University. The study would show how Urkund has been highly used by the University of Gauhati and the Central University of Tezpur compared to other universities of the NE Region, where it is still in a preliminary stage. Importantly the use of Urkund, as our study shows, has been highly beneficial to almost 85% research scholars in Gauhati University for improving their research work.
