As human resources development in ICT and LIS skill is one of the core mandates of the INFLIBNET Centre, a variety of training programs are being conducted on regular basis. For better outreach, INFLIBNET Centre has initiated Virtual Classroom for benefiting the users of our services. The user will have the facility to learn from his/her own choice of place. This article explains the training provided by INFLIBNET Centre through A-VIEW software and how user can join our classroom to avail the benefits.Item Knowledge Discovery of MARCXML based Library Databases using FOSS Full Text Indexing Tools(Inflibnet Centre, 2011-03-02) Patel, Yatrik; Rayka, Dinesh; Vaghela, DivyakantThis paper discusses introduction to full text search, its comparison with traditional approach, which gives insight on popular open source indexing and searching tools viz a viz. Lucene and Solr by Apache Foundation. In internet era libraries are known as knowledge warehouses. Library databases are prominently available in MARCXML format and there are very few free and open source (FOSS) implementations are available in public domain. Many efforts are made in integrating the popular searching and indexing techniques which powers even some of the world’s largest search engines, In library domain this has not been attempted pr operly. This paper is an attempt to showcase technique for implementation of Lucene/Solr based full text indexing over MARCXML based catalogue records to provide reliable, fast and dynamic search interface with provision of facets.Item National Research Data Repository: An Overview(INFLIBNET Centre Gandhinagar, 2024) Madalli, Devika P.; Patel, Yatrik; Pradhan, Dinesh Ranjan; Vaghela, Divyakant; Pandya, Miteshkumar; Solanki, Hiteshkumar; Pradhan, PallabItem R: An Open Source Software Environment for Statistical Analysis(INFLIBNET Centre, Gandhinagar, 2017-04-01) Patel, Yatrik; Vaghela, Divyakant; Solanki, Hitesh; Vaidya, MitishaThe research data and its efficient analysis play a vital role in successful research as well as in drawing meaningful inferences. Students, scholars, research institutes, Government and non-Government organizations around the World depend heavily on statistical and data analysis to carry out their research as well for taking decisions based on statistical analysis of data. Statistics plays a vital role in almost all domains of knowledge. This article provides an overview of various comprehensive, proprietary and non-proprietary statistical packages that are available in the market place for carrying out statistical analyses on data such as SPSS, Stata, Minitab, SAS, etc. The article especially focuses on non-proprietary and open source statistical package called R, which is widely used in all research domains for statistical analysis, data mining and data visualization across the world.Item Research Data management: An Overview(INFLIBNET Centre Gandhinagar, 2024) Madalli, Devika P.; Patel, Yatrik; Pradhan, Dinesh Ranjan; Vaghela, Divyakant; Pandya, Miteshkumar; Solanki, Hiteshkumar; Pradhan, PallabItem Unicode Based Multilingual Catalogue Module: A New Feature of SOUL(Inflibnet center, 2008-02-28) Vaghela, Divyakant; Rayka, Dinesh L; Patel, Yatrik; Chandrakar, RajeshThe INFLIBNET Centre has SOUL software developed for the automation and management of the Indian academic libraries, which has presence across the country in around 1500 libraries. INFLIBNET Centre being a nodal agency for Indian universities and keeping in view the requirement of the modernization of the their libraries with ICT facilities, Centre has developed this software and made available to the libraries in the nominal cost. With the development of the technology and the requirement changes of the library with the technology, it was due for the INFLIBNET Centre to make some necessary changes with the SOUL software. This paper introduces the new catalogue module of the SOUL software with the very new features such as MARC21, Unicode and MARCXML etc abreast with the new applications of the ICT. The Centre happily announces the new name of the SOUL software from the “Software for University Libraries” to the “Software for Library Automation and Management”.Item VuFind: An Emerging Open Source Discovery Tool(INFLIBNET Centre, 2012-02-03) Mansuri, Imran; Patel, Swapnil; Vaghela, DivyakantSince the early days of catalogues, the structure and interface of library tools used for accessing the resources are changing rapidly and dramatically to fulfil the changing user needs. In recent years, the behaviour of library users has been undergoing drastic changes due to increasingly use of web search engines and ICT based services. This paper describes the expectations of such users who are looking for information. It presents an optimized approach that enables academic libraries to provide its patrons with an up-to-date user experience while capitalizing on the unique advantages offered by libraries. Ways of integrating the new solution with the current library environment including features and functionalities of next generation catalogues are discussed
