Item Academic Integrity, Information Use and Information Literacy in the Digital Environment: A study from An Ethical use Perspective(2022-11) Dhar, Prasenjit; Gayan, Mithu AnjaliNowadays, the unethical use of information in the digital environment violates academic integrity. In this situation, information literacy is an essential skill mandatory for tackling challenges. The present study aims to find students’ awareness regarding academic integrity, information use, and information literacy in the digital environment from an ethical point of view. By using google form, a questionnaire was distributed randomly to PG students, and collected data were analyzed. Results of the study revealed that 88.24% (60) students are aware when plagiarism happens. Also, most of the PG students know the meaning of censorship (82.72%) and examples of citation style manuals (85.19%). On the other hand, less than half of the respondents were acquainted with the term netiquette (49.38%) and referencing software (27.16%). Further, Hypothesis testing results reveal that there is a significant difference between males and females regarding the statement, “Copying is allowed from open access resources without giving credit or citation or references”. Similarly, a substantial difference between the two age groups students was observed regarding two statements, one is the meaning of censorship, and another one is examples of citation style manuals. The researcher suggested that workshops, webinars, and training may be beneficial for students to keep academic integrity intact.Item Awareness, Perception and Attitude Towards Plagiarism among Library and Information Science Professionals in Maharashtra: An Investigative Study(INFLIBNET Centre, Gandhinagar, 2022-11) Kalbande, Dattatraya Trayambak; Chavan, Subhash; Motewar, NandkishorAwareness about plagiarism is essential for the evasion of intellectual mendacity, inculcation of academic integrity and assurance of quality research. Maintaining high standards regarding academic integrity is a major challenge for higher education and research organizations worldwide. In India, University Grants Commission in collaboration with INFLIBNET Centre widely working on plagiarism issues and in this movement, librarians played vital role as a support system for avoiding as well as checking plagiarism in dissertations and doctoral thesis. The main purpose of this study is to examine this cohort’s awareness of plagiarism among the Library and Information Science Professionals in Maharashtra. For the collection of data quantitative approach, a crosssectional survey method was used. A convenience sample of Aided college librarians affiliated to University of Mumbai were selected for the present study.75Questionnaires were distributed among the Aided College Librarians out of them 58 were received. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used for data analyses. The findings revealed that while Librarians were aware of the concept of plagiarism, ways of avoiding plagiarism and plagiarism detection tools as well as most of the librarians have positive attitude towards avoiding plagiarism.Item Current Trend in the Library System: Academic Integrity and Plagiarism(INFLIBNET Centre, Gandhinagar, 2022-11) Parihar, Vinod; Sharma, Diksha; Singh, Pramod Kumar; Sharma, DikshaThere are many trends in the library system, such as, Internet of Things; Electronic resource management; cloud computing; federated search, and many others as well. However, the present research focuses on an academic integrity and plagiarism as the current trend in the system of library science. This research discusses the concept of plagiarism: it adopts the approaches of acknowledging, referencing, paraphrasing, and checking plagiarism by using particular software, such as, Ouriginal; Turnitin; and others. Avoiding plagiarism and acknowledging a piece of text leads a researcher towards realizing the academic integrity. This paper also discusses the significance of the academic integrity in the academic pursuits of a researcher; it also suggests the various ways of establishing the research ethics and integrity in the culture of research.
