Item Library Professionals’ Scholarly Communications over Online Forum: Content Analysis of New Millennium LIS Professionals (NMLIS)(INFLIBNET Centre, 2017-08) Shukla, Akhandanand; Dawngliana, Jacob MSThe paper deals with the content analysis of scholarly communications posted over online forum NMLIS by library professionals. The paper discusses about online communications of LIS professionals through online discussion forums like NMLIS and in relation to that reviewed available literature. One year’s scholarly communications of NMLIS have been taken in consideration with numbers of related objectives. Data collection and analysis has been done through online survey and observation methods. Eight categories have been identified for groupings of 2403 scholarly communications. The main focus of scholarly communications has been observed; most prolific contributors of every month have been identified from the group communications; extent of file attachments and numbers of files has been calculated and categorized according to their file types; and finally top most contributors of job related information and library specific information have been identified by number of postings and frequency of postings by contributors. Findings and conclusions have been drawn on the basis of analysis of the collected data at the end.Item Re-imaging Community Engagement in University Libraries toward Sustainable Development Goals(INFLIBNET Centre Gandhinagar, 2024-09-19) Sarma, Barasha; Patgiri, Dibyajyoti; Shukla, AkhandanandThe research examines the role of university libraries in North-Eastern India as community hubs for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), focusing on their potential to foster social advancement through innovative community engagement. This study primarily investigates the dissemination of services by libraries regarding SDGs and the methods employed for dissemination. It also provides an overview of the challenges faced by libraries in this process. The study observes that universities in the North-Eastern Region emphasize the importance of fulfilling the SDGs. It notes that SDGs 4, 5, and 6 are more frequently practiced by libraries through community engagement initiatives. University libraries also prioritize partnerships with schools, colleges, rural, and small libraries as major strategies for enhancing community engagement services. Both offline and online methods are utilized for disseminating community engagement services, with newsletters and social media platforms (Facebook, WhatsApp) being the most prominent in each respective category. Additionally, the study identifies the lack of funds as one of the key challenges faced by libraries, which hampers their ability to provide community engagement services to users within the community.Item Web 2.0: Implications on Library(INFLIBNET Center, 2008-02-28) Majumdar, Amrita; Shukla, AkhandanandThis paper presents the idea of Web 2.0, represents a significant paradigm shift in the way we view library services. It’s about a seamless user experience, where usability, interoperability, and flexibility of library systems are key features to future prospects. The library can build community (both online and physical), via using web 2.0 technologies (instant messaging, screen casting, blogs, wikis, etc.). It allows user participation through writing reviews and tagging in the catalog and making their opinion heard through blogs and wikis. It makes the library more transparent through its Web presence and its physical design. We need to make the library human, ubiquitous, and user-centered. This involves a change in our systems, our Web presence, and our very attitudes. It will take a lot of work for a library to be completely Web 2.0 based environment
